Here's a little look at one of the polaroids shot by Flora Deborah from a shoot I did the set design for last Saturday which we're submitting to Ballad Of magazine for their next Candy Pop themed issue! A lovely team and a lovely day, we were luck enough to do it just before the snow came in, phew!

Shimell & Madden launch their new holding page

I have been working with Emma & Luke who are the two designers who set up the jewellery label Shimell & Madden. We shot their latest collection and show pieces for their new holding page which is up now, and launched about a week ago! As per, I'm not totally up to date! Not far off though!

The shoot was at the end of last year in a big 4 storey house right in the middle of Shoreditch which was kindly lent to us by the photographer Emma Dalzell's boss. Emma shot using colour, black & white film, and Polaroid so it was a race against time to get it all done before the sun went down!

For the set I took inspiration from Emma Madden's sketch books which are full of geometric drawings and diagrams. These inspired the collections movable jewellery, and medallion type pendants that are all beautifully made form gold and silver.

I used some really revolting geometric pleated fabric from Shepherds Bush as one back ground which turned out to be really effective on camera! I used cotton jersey to create the structure in the first image below, some synthetic cord to do the set in the final shot and wool to create a tiny installation on the stairs. This also reflects the installation I did for Metric Collective's shop, that Luke, Emma & Myia Bonner organised last year.

I realised I'm about two years behind on seeing these garments, but I had kind of left fashion behind me for a while. Actually it's been about 5 years since I've really felt excited about it! Costume has sustained me for a while, but now I'm back, and I'm trying to get myself into it again. Textiles are big passion of mine, and this collection has truly inspired me.One day I hope I make work as beautiful as this.

My friends Emma and Luke aka Shimell & Madden of Metric Collective asked me to create backdrops and do some styling for their latest shoot. The images are more mood shots than promotional, they will be going on their website to show people how they see their brand. We shot a lot of their giant geometric show pieces in a beautiful house in Shoreditch, courtesy of the photographer Emma Dalzell's boss. I did a few stringy installations in various corners of the house that you can see above,

The whole shoot was done in analogue so we are going to have a little bit of a wait to see the outcome... I reckon it will be worth the wait. Emma did a bit filming on super8 too, so exciting! What a good day... More to come on this soon ...

Branchage Film Festival 2011: 22 - 25 September from Branchage Film Festival on Vimeo.

Here is proof of the magical adventures I had working on the art department of Branchage Film festival for a week in Jersey this summer. We dressed all the venues, made costumes for the ushers and usherettes, and put on a massive great 'Fantasy Island' party at the end of it all, which you can see glimpses of in this film. The 'Heartbreak Hotel' booth where you could climb in and hang out with Elvis in his hotel room, complete with satin sheets and fancy all paper. There was a 'Fantasy Booth' where all your fantasies came true. Morris dancers, and an 80's Maypole dance which the whole crew and I took part in, where we glittered the audience and ended up in a conga line going around the Spiegel tent on the Jersey Harbour. There were so many other things and some absolutely amazing costumes!

Thanks so much to Molly Caroll who organised the WHOLE thing, and sung on various occasions as well, what a talented lady. Everyone should check out her band Plaster of Paris they's the best thing since sliced bread I tell you.

I have been on a bit of a mission recently, making little things in may spare time, sometimes for people who have requested them for test shoots, but mainly just for myself, to cross off some ideas I've had on my list for a while. A few weeks ago India and Skye Victoria kindly agreed to doing a shoot in my garden with some of the things I made. I'm waiting to put them all on my website fairly soon (I hope), but here's a sneak preview of my favourite shots. I love them too much to not share them!

I was sent these images from Publicis of the float I did a few months back for the Royal Bank of Scotland, at Manchester Gay Pride. But I have been a tad busy...and lazy... aaand kind of forgot about them! Although they are bloody brilliant, so I don't know how I could have. Lets just say it's been a busy month...

Bruno often collaborates with director Stephanie Di Gusto, who's way of editing to the soundtrack is so fantastic, I love it when a persons movement works directly with the beats and crashes of the music, it creates a whole other level of feeling and intensity. In her past films we see a lot of collaborations with actress Lou Doillon, which are equally as cleverly edited, aesthetically pleasing and have a great soundtrack. I'd recommend checking out the rest of Di Gusto's work on Bruno's Vimeo. I don't know about you, but I've officially been inspired.

East Pop West

I'm taking part in the EAST POP WEST exhibition with Metric Collective, which runs from today until Sunday in the old Innocent Smoothie building near Goldhawk road in West London. The event has been organised by Red Gallery on Redchurch street in Shorditch, who decided it was high time West London saw a bit of what East London collectives have been doing.

There are loads of different collectives and artist involved including Le Gun, Alex Noble, Florence Boyd, & Hackney WickED to name a few.

Come down and take a peek if you're on the west side!

We're occupying a glass shop in the middle of the building which has some rather nice big windows for my string installation and for the Metric jewellery to be displayed in. I also put in a few hand cut geometric masks that I made... here's a picture that Natalie Armin sent to me of one that I made for a test shoot the other day...

Royal Bank of Scotland float for Manchester Gay Pride !

I just got back from Manchester where I did my biggest project to date... I was passed on the job by designers Jiggery Pokery to do the set design for a float which would be part of the Manchester Gay Pride parade. The float was for Royal Bank of Scotland, who were a main sponsor of Manchester Pride. The RBS gay, lesbian & trans-gender Union, The Rainbow Network, have been taking part in the parade for many years, supporting and embracing diversity in the banking industry. David Mason, the Chairman of the RBSG Pride Society Manchester was the one who started it all, apparently it was just him, in a car with some decorations on, and it's now grown into a 45ft float! That's dedication for you...

The Advertising agency I was commissioned by, Publicis, came up with the idea to make it a 'Mad Hatter's Tea Party'. So from there I designed a set which could be interacted with, and illustrated how much RBS like to party! The results - I'm pleased to say, were exactly what I was hoping for!

I spent 2 weeks working with carpenters Tom and Colin of IFSODOSO studio, who were brilliant fun to work with, and so fantastic at problem solving. If you're Manchester based and need any furniture, or a set building I would highly recommend them!

Here are my very poor photos of the float as we were building it - I will post up the professional ones when I get them!

So, let's start at the beginning...

After we hung up the chicken wire idea (literally) we decided to go for paper mache. That old chestnut...

The beginnings of the 2 metre high and 2 metre wide cake where the majority of 1000 cup cakes would be sitting. RBS gave out all of the cupcakes the the crowd at the parade, as well as over 500 single red roses!

Viva Magazine - Fantasia Shoot

Natalie Armin is a stylist and prop maker based in Manchester, and a few months ago she asked me to make some one off accessories for her shoot for Viva Magazine - a Manchester based lifestyle magazine. For the shoot I created a crown and a pair of feathered 'wings' that I posted images of a few months ago just before I sent them off.... Here are the final images which have now been published :

Sadly the crown can't be seen too well, but the feathers are certainly taking centre stage!

Sophia's Flower Fairies

I worked with Sophia and Richard on Horrid Henry, and when they decided to get married this year they asked me to make head their bridesmaids into flower fairies! So Sophia gave me some wonderful reference images to work from and from there I made collars, hair garlands, a belt and a hat for the 7 little girl's.

Dishaboom Chowpatty Beach restaurant - Southbank

I worked with Ashley Murray-Fowler on this Indian restaurant that opened up a few months ago on the South Bank between where all the skaters go and the BFI. Ash built the interior and designed the wall installations. One is covered in rolled up newspapers which took a hell of a lot to do... we're talking tonnes. lets just say far more than you'd ever expect!

I put together the objects on the walls that you can see in the image below, and sprayed them white. It's amazing what a coat of white paint will do. the objects run along the back of the bar and there is another bitter wall on the opposite side. I really love this installation, I went to check it out the other day and it's pretty mental for an Indian restaurant, but it looks great.

I also painted two Indian ice cream carts which I'm currently trying to find the photos of on my hard drive... so they'll be up soon! They were really fun to do....Sign writing is my new talent apparently...

Go check the place out if you're passing by, it's on until October (that's why i've been so slack in putting it up here of course) and I hear it's good traditional food at very good prices.

Some photos from the Lost picture show set up at Glastonbury. I designed and made (with the help of a lot of fantastic ladies) this ceiling 2 years ago. It needs redesigning really, because it's a bit of a pain to get up in the air, but when it's up... my it's beautiful. I love it.

Glastonbury memories....

I went to Glastobury Festival a few weeks ago with the cinema tent The Lost Picture Show, who i've worked with for the last 2 years. We've taken our tent to the Big Chill and Shambala but our main aim has been Glasto, so we were very very excited to be there.

Anyway, this post is about a time laps video that was taken on a camera that slowly travelled along a bar and took photos every couple of seconds. This guy went all over the festival site with his bar and tripods documenting the place being built, and in this video he's filmed a bit of us setting up in The Common. My friend Sophie and I are in them both quite a bit, gluing letters onto clips for the big light box/signs we built to go on the front of the venue, and putting up all the wonderful old Latin-American film posters on the walls.

If you managed to get to our tent I hope you enjoyed it. I think it was probably the comfiest place in Glastonbury...

Lost Picture Show goes to GLASTONBURY!

For the last 2 year I have spent time each summer building and rennovating this big old cinema tent and taking it to festivals. If you're been reading my blog for a while, you might remember the pictures I put up from the first year at the Big Chill festival...

The idea was thought up by Jim Dummett who then employed me to create the interior and carpenter Ashley Fowler to construct the structure of the tent. That was in the summer of 2009, and we took the LPS to big chill that year, we went again last year (and to Shambala too). But the aim all a long has been to get to Glastonbury Festival, so here we are. It's 2011, and we're bloomin' well going! Woooooo! All the hard work has paid off - can't wait for this one!

It describes what we're going to be doing with it at Glasto this year in the late night Latino area...

"We are counting down the days now until our gig at Glastonbury Festival, where we are to be transformed into Havana’s finest picture palace. Located in The Common’s Latin American back streets, beyond the voodoo parlours, debauched bordellos and dodgy men selling cast-off cigars, the story goes that we are to be a formerly cherished cinema, apparently fallen into disrepair. But behind our crumbling facade will lie a 1920s picture palace of overflowing luxury and decadence, complete with opulent velveteen seating, glittering chandeliers and a lavish cocktail lounge serving Mojitos, Margaritas and Cuba Libres.

The Lost Picture Show will dazzle your mind and satisfy your senses with treats from a far-away land. We will be open from 2pm til dawn, screening a Latin-American soaked programme of features and shorts, so drop in at anytime, kick off your wellies, sink into our mattress-laden auditorium and feast your eyes upon treats from a distant land. METRIC Pop-Up Shop

'A collective of thinkers and doers, designers and makers who believe in the strength
of co-creativity to engage and empower. Their first pop-up project promotes creative talent,
supports craft and provides education for the community.
Metric is more than a shop. Metric is a movement.'

I have spent the last week working on a window display, interior installation and display props for the METRIC jewellery shop on Columbia Road in London. As you may have guessed, the overall theme is geometric shapes in all forms. The talented jewellery designers Myia Bonner, and Shimell & Madden were the people who initiated the project.

The other jewellers in the shop are The Esther Benjamin Trust, a charity that work with young people in Nepal who have been saved from trafficking. They teach them how to make jewellery as a means of earning a living, and their hard work is for sale in the shop!

We also have Chrome Yellow Books, who produce beautiful craft based publications and short run artist books.

Last but not least! We have hand painted eye boggling graphic Illustrations from Jake Ambridge. Every time I look at his work I forget it's hand painted, I still can't believe it! To see it is to believe it, so come along and have a look for yourself.

Opening party for friends and family is this Wednesday the 8Th JUNE!

Sacred Geometry

Anna Beam and Mariel Osborn are two friends that I did the Embroidery degree with in Manchester a couple of years back. They've come together as Sacred Geometry and have created two collections of fashion/art based accessories and clothing under that name.

I have got lots to update on here about my own work but I just had to write a bit about Anna and Mariel today, because I just can't get enough of looking at their new pictures! The photographer India Hobson has taken some truly beautiful photographs of their work for the second PANOPLY exhibition/event. These one night events in Manchester bring together artists and designers who's work is both fashion and art. These girls have worked so hard on the two events, and it shows - the accessories and embellished garments they've produced are phenomenal! They have created a new kind of armour - a futuristic and theatrical look which would be loved by the fashion industry and equally be fantastic costumes for a sci-fi film.

Supplementaire collectors edition Issue # 5

So FINALLY I can post this shoot I styled last year with India Hobson and Bea Sweet. We got together in by back garden in Surrey on a lovely sunny day, to do this series of self-portraits for the Supplementaire Collectors edition. It's out this week! we've been waiting a while, I'm very excited to see it in print. Above are screen shots from the online version you can view on the Supplementaire website

Supplementaire is an art/fashion journal based in Europe. They bring out this hefty hardback as a quarterly journal, and fill it with up-and-coming photography artists with work on a different subject each time. The magazine is a bit of an investment but totally worth it...

Some old gloves I customised with beading in a feather pattern. They were part of a cape I made for the Stroud interneational textiles festival a year or so ago. I like these ones the best, so I took them off the cape. You might have noticed my profile picture is a slightly more revealing version of this one!

Sooo, it started off slow this year but it's getting busier and busier for me work wise which (fingers crossed) is going to continue for a while.

One project I have been working on is with Lucy Jay and styling the new look book for her collection of digitally printed scraves. I really enjoyed working with Lucy, as a fellow fan of fake flowers I knew we'd get along well... Lucy's press archive is pretty impressive since she started her company a year or so ago she's gon from strength to strength. Her prints are super cycodelic with pleanty of geometric designs and innovitive colour ways. It was great to be working for a client like Lucy, and with a team of such creative people.

UNKNOWN CULTURAL MOVEMENT

I'm sure most people are aware by now of what the most recent Secret Cinema event was all about. The show started on Thursday the 11th of Febuary with the friends and family night and officially opened to the public on the Friday. It was on until the 27th of February which makes it 17 nights in total... much longer than Lawerence of Arabia was. I did two installations at the event, and It was interesting making sure everything stays as was meant to the whole of the way through...I went to sproose them up the other day but they didnt stay like that for long!

So that's right, I had TWO big spaces to dress this time. I got to do a bit of painting, some visual merchandising and a good bit of set dressing. I'm really please with both the rooms. Sourcing props is a lot of fun!

Fred's Fantastic Flowers

I sometimes help Fred Butler with her work making accesseries, and try to keep myself up to date with her blog which is she updates every day with news and images from the fashion/art/design world (It's a great source for LFW updates!).

I was browsing the other day when I spotted a post about some paper flowers she made for stylist Patti Wilson for Vogue Italia. Last time I was in Fred's studio I was working on these flowers. It's nice to see where they ended up! Even though my involvment in this project was only a day's worth, I just had to blog about it. They're so beautiful!

Kyle Bean - Wallpaper* Design Awards issue

I helped Kyle for a few days making these paper awards for the Feb 2011 issue of Wallpaper* magazine, based in Blink Ink studios. Kyle has done some of my favourite 3D graphic design work from the last few years, including the golden paper palace in the Diesel flag ship store window, and the unforgettable Selfridges windows. Burlesque After Dark

This is something I completely forgot to write about as I was so busy juggling different jobs in the summer - I dressed the set for the Burlesque After Dark performance at this years Greenwich Comedy Festival, with the help of Anne-Laure Franchette and Roisin Conway who were ace sidekicks as always! The festival ran from the 6th-12th September, it's only in it's second year and the acts keep getting bigger and better.
we framed the stage with garlands, and continued that theme over the 'birdcage' where we installed a swing that host of the show sat on to introduce each act. We also collaged over the bar with photographs from old films and vintage magazines.

We were the last stage open each night, and managed to get about 400 people in over the two nights we were on. Check out the greenwich comedy festival website Here

Guilliame Retz studio

The entrance...

In October Anne-Laure Franchette and I designed, constructed, and decorated this set which was part of a temporary performance from 1929 Productions a few months ago. This is the view from the entrance... the audience member walks through this dark and dank hallway which leads to Guilliam Retz long lost studio.

The whole show was very immersive, inspired by the blue beard myths Felix & Simon organised a sort of treasure hunt. The audience members go from: The Library in Crouch End, where they pick up a book all about Retz a book. The book then guides you to your next location which is -> -> The Guillume Retz museum in Finsbury Park where you meet the curator who reccomends you see -> Retz' studio situated in Finsbury park Pavillion -> from there you are lead to a bunker in Tottenham where the story is made clearer. Along the way you would meet characters who knew Retz or were obsessed with him.

Fred Butler's 'Exquisite Corpse'

I did a short stint assisting Fred Butler a few weeks ago, and was helping her make and paint some of the items that went into her art work which was exhibited at Dalston Superstore as part of Alex Noble's Exquisite Corpse' group exhibition.

Here's a bit of the blurb from the invitation;

"The Gallery Superstore invites artists for it’s fourth group show, to explore the themes and practices of the parlor game originating ‘Exquisite Corpse’. A name given by the Surrealists when they first played the game also known as ‘Consequences’. In it’s original form it was a play of sentences and adjective nouns. Finding the practice playful and enriching, the surrealist developed it into more of an art form that has been celebrated to this day.
And can now be seen as drawing, collage and sculpture and inspires artists to fashion designers and photographers.

The exhibition seeks to be 3D installation lead, with the artists life size ‘cadavers’ hanging from the Superstore meat hooks, as an eclectic morgue of objects of intrigue. "

So Fred decided to adorn her manikin with hand made flowers, and intricately folded structures made entirely from paper. Fred's work is really technical and very inspiring - it was really good to see how she goes about doing her work, and was really nice to get stuck in to working with a paint brush again!

Shhh...Secret Cinema

A few weeks ago I was very please when I got a call from my friend Steph, who asked me if i wanted to be an installation artist on the latest Secret Cinema event. If im honets I had heard about it, but didn't really know what it was all about. If you don't kow what SecretCinema is about you should check out thier website > here <

I did two installations for their showing of Lawerence of Arabia. We recreated an Arabic market place in the middle of Alexandra Palace, and I managed to get one of the most prominent installation spots in the venue to make a 'wool souk,' where the women would have dyed wool and hung it up to dry. I also did a 'street barber' stall which had everything but the cuthroat! We only had a week and a half to source and put everything together, but we did it! It was really great working for Future Shorts, and a great learning curve, as I'd never done such a detailed installation on that scale before.

We tried dying mopheads as an alternative to using wool, Roisin and I spent a sunny day in my garden dying with natural dyes like tumeric, and henna and some dylon dyes too...

and when we got to the space, we realised it was a bit bigger than we thought...

so i went on a hunt for wool, i found a wonderful wool supplier and got a bunch of cheapo end of line bits! what a result!

My good friend's Roisin Conway and Anne-laure helped me install everything. what legends.

Punch Drunk - Duchess of Malfi

Oh my this is late - I volunteered in the art department of Punch Drunk's last production, The Dudchess of Malfi a few months ago - They collaborated with the English National Opera, for thier first Operatic production. It was held in a massive old medical centre in Gallion's reach, (SO far out in the middle of nowhere that the royal mail didnt recognise the postcode of the surrounding flats, therefore they never recieved thier post! Poor things...).

There arent any good ones floating about of the set, but basically me and about 50 or more other volunteers had to wrap wire around 500 trees. I got to do a bit of detail work in the offices but I was only helping out a few days a week so did'nt get to do too much more of that stuff... it was a fun experiance though! Thanks Punch Drunk!

Lightning & Kinglyface for Bench

Sorry for the lack of updates, it's been a busy couple of months!

I'll start with June time >

I was interning for Lightning&Kinglyface for a few months they are prop makers/installation artist, so I got to do lots of fun sourcing, and making of bits and pieces. The first shoot I was asked to assist on was this shoot for bench which was shot by John short, a brilliant still life photographer.

The whole thing was made from layers of cut out paper hung from a big grid, fun times!

I assisted set designer Linnea Apelqvist with installing this window at the opticans Auerbach & Steele on Kings road a few weeks ago here are the pictures of the final thing -

Linnea had made really beautiful paper letters that were trying to escape from the oversized paper eye chart and had the (amazing) glasses that A&S sell hanging from them. I really want some. One day...

VV Brown comic book launch at the Book Club

A couple of weeks back I did some volunteer work on a project for Jotta.com, Who were commissioned to make a cardboard set which reflected the story in VVBrown's new comic book The City of Abacus which she wrote and designed with David Allain . This was all for the launch of the comic book a week or so ago (I've been a bit slow on getting these photos up....)

So amongst other things I helped cut out the looming cardboard trees for the forest which had a smoke machine and a big flood light behind it to make it super creepy, and I made an oversized cardboard acoustic guitar! That was fun. It has strigs and everything. There was also a massive pencil, comic book (which you could draw on with the pencil), a sharpener to go with it, and a camera. There were projections too, It was pretty damn amazing really.

After the party VVBrown requested that she keep the objects that we made - I dont know what she's going to do with them, but I'm glad she liked them!

This online style archive invited me to describe to them what I was wearing. It's a purely text based site 'showcasing meticulous outfit choices from individuals around the world'.

I think it's such a nice way of making a style blog, you get a totally different feeling of how people have put thier outfits together and stories that you never get when it's just a photograph. They've got some ace new designers and bloggers on there and one of my favourite illustrators/model makers Holly Wales.

Lightning & Kinglyface

So a few weeks ago I helped the Lightning and Kinglyface girls set up an installation they did in the basement of Fallon the advertising agency. The installation was in collaboration with the photographer Thomas Brown. You can find out what it was all about on thier blog >>>

The installation was made up of 5 or 6 large structures made from triangular shabs built up into sculptures - some of the you could see inside of like never ending pools, and they had a green laser, a smoke machine and a few big lights to build up a theatrical atmosphere around them. It all looked quite fantastic really.

The installation was only up for a few days and I've been so busy I havent had the chance to update my blog until now but on the 21st of April they had the private view where the whole thing came to life, it was really wonderful to see it with the lasers and smoke machine in full swing. The girls were pretty pleased with the outcome, and so they should be! they worked so so hard on it...

The 'King and Queen' shoot i styled with India Hobson a while ago is in this months W25 magazine. You can check out the online magazine here or you can buy a hard copy here! I made a few of the accessories, the creepy fox head gloves are from Jason Mui, and I comissioned my friend Jess Lewin to make the knitted crown. I'm totally in love with the dressing gown we shot the guy in, my nan gave it to me recently - it was made in india in the 50's, every time i put it on i feel super glamerous, if a little bit christmasy.

Stroud Textile Festival.. Window display!

So on friday I went to Stroud to put my work in the window of Time After Time AKA Stroud Vintage on high for the Stroud Textile Festival which started today and finishes on the 23rd of May. They asked a few textile based graduates from various universities around the country to display their work in shop windows along the high street. There are loads of talks on and exhibitions to check out if you're anywhere near there over the next few weeks it's the perfect place for a textile lover. I got quite caught up in the indoor market and all the amazing charity shops they have there - i bought some stuff whihc i should be photographing with india Hobson in the next few days.

Anyway - for the window I produced a one-off piece of work specifically based around a paragraph from 'Cider with Rosie' by Laurie Lee. He grew up in and around Stroud, Gloustershire and based the book there.

‘Her flowers and songs, her unshaken fidelities, her attempts at order, her relapses into squalor, her near madness, her crying for light, her almost daily weeping for her dead child-daughter, her frisks and gaieties, her fits of screams, her love of man, her hysterical rages, her justice towards each of us children –
all these rode my Mother and sat on her shoulders like a roosting of ravens and doves.’

The cape is made from cotton organdie, and hand dyed and beaded vintage gloves which represent the roost of doves and raven's described. I'm prettybp-lease with the outcome, although I would have like to do more with the window, I just didnt have time really, but I think It went well anyway. I like the shadow of the hand you can see from the back...

So over the last month or so i have been interning for the menswear designer JW anderson and on wednesday we showed at London fashion week's MAN. I was named head of Embroidery for the season so pretty much only worked on that for the entire time i was there (and i'm still working there) So, this is what we came up with...

Hand embroidered donkey jacket (Where the leather would be on an ordinary donkey jacket there are french knots) and embroidered bicycle gloves.

Rebecca is a good friend of mine who has just been comissioned to design and build a window display for NOISE festival's new 'Pop up shop' on Market Street in the centre of manchester. I went along a few times over the last two weeks to help her make some of the big cardboard computers and lettering for the installation. LOST PICTURE SHOW

I can't believe it's taken me this long to put this on my blog... better late than never i guess!

So, during the summer of 2009 I spent about two months working on making a MASSIVE scale replica of a 1920's cinema in the form of a tent! It was made out of hundreds if not thousands of metres of amazing embroidered fabrics and constructed by some amazingly talented volunteers.

We made it all in a warehouse in Bermondsey then transported it to the Big Chill festival for a week. Probably the best festival I have ever been to, and the best summer! (even though it was damn hard work - worth every drip of sweat)

Yesterday I put my work up for the UNDERCOVER Exhibition at Nexus Art Cafe in Manchester's Northern Quarter. The opening is on Thursday fromm 7pm - there will be a few fun activities - check out each artists personal statement on the Nexus website and the facebook page...

A Cheap Affair

I will be holding a stall with my mates Laura Gee and Alex Humphreys at the christmas 'Cheap affair' which is held by Cheap magazine at the Islington Mill in Saldford. It's the second one ever and i think it's going to be the perfect opportunity for everyone to get some decent christmas presents (myself included). We'll be selling some super merchandise including paper prints, printed t-shirts and bags, and handmade badges etc.

Shrieking Violet Zine

I did this comission for the cover of the fourth issue of Shrieking Violet Zine, which will be distrobuted around Manchester in the coming weeks. Degree show & News

So this is what my degree show looked like in the end - i did a couple of extra drawings for it which i was super pleased with and got some pretty good feed back about everything. I am going to be featured in the Nov/Dec issue of Embroidery Magazine in their annual round up of new textiles graduates, so look out for that coming out soon!

A bit of an update...

At long last i have got the internet! so here are the pictures from the YES IT IS stall at the Trade City Art Car Boot fair in Manchester (better late than never)

We set up our stall with our merchandise up front and our dioramas at the back, I think we were all pretty please with our work, though the turn out for the event wasn't quite as good as we hoped! It was definitely a learning curve...

Camp Yellow also joined us under our bit of shelter as the weather wasn't quite as good as we had hoped - check out their work on my 'comrades' list below, they're a super talented group of illustrators, so we were glad to have them on board!

I sold some hand printed t-shirts, and tot bags, plus hand cut felt badges and postcards which are all soon to be available from my Etsy shop

ANTIFREEZE

Four of us from the Yes It Is collective have been selected to take part in the AntiFreeze art car boot fair in Manchester which is taking place next weeked on 4th July.

My work will be sitting along side the works of, Laura Gee, Anna Beam and Georgina Sullivan.

Each of us will be of us will be making dioramas of our individual works for passers by to have a tiny peak at what we do. We will aslo be selling some of our drawings, home made zines, t-shirts and bags. Come and check out our stand - I cant wait!

Oooh its been a while

So a little update - I put up my degree show last week, we had the private view on Friday the 19th which was brilliant, and we have been sitting next to our work all week which has been painfully boring to say the least! Anyway... I will have some decent pictures of my show up on here in a couple of days.

What i really wanted to say was that i have been mentioned on the Artist Newsletter (AN) website as one of their favourite three choices from the show...check out the review here

The show comes down this Sunday so go check us out quick! Then it's back to reality on monday...

Ive been a tad busy recently, I am handing in my final pieces of work on wednesday, so its all getting abit hectic. If you are around the North-West of England and care to take a look at my degree show it starts on Friday 19th June (private view) and ends on Sunday the 28th.

The Embroidery department is exhibiting their work on the second floor of the Cavandish building next to All Saints Park... This is my postcard which is going to be sold on the opening night:

Laura Gee and I did a quick collaborative mural on a little pillar in the wonderous Ram & Shackle on Wimslow Rd in Fallowfield (Manchester).

The lovely people who run the place asked Manchester artists to participate by drawing all over thier walls, so thats what we did last Tuesday afternoon.

I Pasted up these collaged stars on my side of the drawing, they each have a different 'Asian Animal' head in them...It's an ace venue too...our drawing's on the right, just as you walk in, go check it out if your about!

a bloody success! the private view was brilliant, we got some really good reactions! thanks very very much to everyone who came and to cow lane for having us! We had a great weekend...

The mulled wine and drawing went down pretty well too, we will be making a Flickr account so everyone can see the photos from the night!
